Bhubaneswar(Orissa) : National general secretary of Samajwadi Party and former Minister Orissa assembly Arbinda Dhali has the last laugh following the directive of the Union Home Ministry asking Orissa Government to restore his security as early as possible.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed Orissa Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy to restore security of former Minister in view of threat to his life.
After the directive of the Home Ministry, Dhali on Thursday wrote a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik seeking restoration of Z category security, which was withdrawn from him on July 4, 2008.
The Ministry after verifying the reports of the Central Intelligence Agency has asked Chief Secretary to restore his security following threat to his life by leftwing extremists' elements.
Dhali had been enjoying the Z Category security since he survived a landmine blasts in 2002 while he was a Cabinet Minister during the first term of Naveen Patnaik Government.
He is belongs to the Malkangiri constituency under the South-Western Police range, the worst Maoists affected region of the State.
"After getting the Ministry's directive, Chief Secretary Tripathy in a letter bearing no-3852218/2008 to DGP Gopal Chandra Nanda and Director Intelligence MM Praharaj on August 21 asked them to look into the matter and restore security but nothing has happened," Dhali said in a statement.
And he further stated that, he is perceived as the No-1 enemy of the ‘The outlawed CPI (Maoists)’ because of his pro-active role in convincing the then Home Minister LK Advani to depute CRPF personnel in the region.
The State Government's move to withdraw security, has embarrassed him a lot and he is living like an alien in his own country ,his life is in full of danger and it’s a threat to the community which he belong to.
"The Maoists have so far unsuccessfully attacked on me three times. They have damaged two of house in Malkangiri, which was worth more than 60 lakh but the State Government has not taken any steps or compensate me," Dhali argued.
"The Government after manipulating Intelligence inputs have withdrawn my security," Dhali pointed out.
The State Government first deputed 12 constables and 3 havildars and subsequently cut short to 8 constables and 2 havildars, 4 constables and 1 havildar and finally withdrawn security measures.
