Kandhamal ( Orissa) : An ITI student, who was undergoing training in the southern electric division at Berhampur had died following a electric shock while working at the transformer on Tuesday.

A day after his death, the family members including Pradeep's father, mother and four sisters on Wednesday agitated in front of the corporate office of the Southco for hours keeping the dead boy at the office premises.

They have also demanded action against the persons responsible for the death.

The workers of the Southco stated that, Pradeep was undergoing training at the corporation road division of the department for the last two weeks.

They further said that the executive engineer was supposed to do the repairing work of the high power 11,000 KV transformer through his junior engineer, but a trainee like Pradeep had been engaged by the department for such a dangerous work, which was an irrelevant attitude taken by the official of southco, they added.

Family members of decease alleged that due to this kind of mistake by the southco officials a trainee having two month of experience had electrocuted on the spot and died while working at the transformer.

However, after the discussion between the workers union leaders and the authorities, it was decided that a compensation of Rs. 50,000 would be given to the family and a temporary job to one of the sisters would be provided.
