Opinion Poll
Bhubaneswar (Orissa) : Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik may likely face the music of Opposition Congress and BJP when the Assembly begins on Monday morning.
The BJP and Congress, which has been cornering the Government since Patnaik took the baton for the third time in a row, would demand a white paper on the multi-crore mining scam.
“We would demand a white paper on mining scam,” Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh said adding that the Chief Minister is trying to cover up the scam to save his personal image.
BJP leader in the House, KV Singh Deo however said that his party’s demand for a CBI probe has not changed yet.
“Our stand is very clear and the Government should go for a CBI probe to find out the mines mafias and middlemen,” Singh Deo, a former State Minister said.
The third session of the 14th Assembly will commence from March 8 and will continue till March 17.
The brief session of the Assembly will have eight working days as the Government has decided to present a vote-on-account instead of a full budget. Incidentally, this will be the second vote-on-account in a row.
In view of the general election last year, the Government had gone for a vote-on-account.The Government will seek approval of the Assembly for its obligatory expenditure for the first quarter of the ensuing financial year or till a full budget is placed.
The revised estimate of the current fiscal which ends on March 31 will also be passed. As the Government is awaiting the recommendations of the Thirteenth Finance Commission, it is likely to place a regular budget in the monsoon session of the Assembly.
