Cuttack In dramatic development in Orissa cricket, former India fast bowler Debashis Mohanty has been named as new coach of Orissa Ranji team.

Recently the Debashis has passed the level A coaching test conducted by the BCCI and was the coach of under 19 east zone team.

The former Australian allronder Michel Bevan who was the coach of the team in last season has flown back to Australia citing family problems.

He has played two test matches and 45 one- day internationals for India taking 4 wickets in test and 57 in ODIs.

In 1999 Cricket World Cup, he was the second highest Indian wicket taker despite playing 4 games less than the leading Indian wicket taker - Javagal Srinath .
