Ollywood actor Dushmant Panda gets conditional bail

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) : Ollywood actor Dushmant Panda, who is facing charges of betraying a journalism student and marrying an actress, surrendered before a lower court here on Tuesday.

He managed to get conditional bail.

The actor  surrendered before the sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) Akhil Paschimkabat in the afternoon and walked out of the court in the evening.

Earlier Orissa high court had directed him to appear before the Bhubaneswar SDJM court for bail. He had knocked on the door of the high court, seeking bail.

"The SDJM court granted him conditional bail after he furnished a personal bond in the sum of Rs 20,000 with one surety in the like amount. The court has asked him to abide by the conditions," Dushmant's lawyer Subhranshu Das said.

Police had booked Dushmant under section 417 (punishment for cheating), 493 (cohabitation following false promise of marriage), 341 (wrongful restraint), 294 (obscene acts), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 of IPC after receiving a complaint against the actor.

last month, Priti Mohanty, a journalism student had lodged a complaint alleging Panda had married her in a temple two years ago and recently tied the nuptial knot with actress Kajal Mishra after ditching her.

Meanwhile  Priti's lawyer Prabhat Panda said "he might have got bail. But he would be punished in the family court".
