Kendrapara(Odisha) : In a interesting incident, the villagers of Pentha village in Kendrapara have organised a weeklong religious ceremony from Sunday to appease gods and get protection against the sea that is slowly crawling into the territory and submerging their land.

Over the last couple years vast land and houses of about 70 families of Pentha village have come under the waters of the Bay of Bengal.
 
'Only the sea god can save us, that is why we organised this fire ritual after collecting funds from each household said a villagers.
 
Six months ago the district administration put up wooden pillars along the beach but the sea water devoured the barriers couple months ago.
