Rajnish Prakash appointed Heavy Water Board Chairman

Mumbai: Senior chemical technologist Rajnish Prakash has been appointed as the new Chairman and Chief Executive of Heavy Water Board (HWB) of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) here.

The 57-year-old Technical Director took over as the Chairman and CE from A L N Rao, who retired on March 31, HWB said in a release today.

Prakash, who coordinated country's first export of Heavy Water to South Korea, graduated in Chemical Engineering from University of Roorkee (currently IIT Roorkee) in 1974. He did his postgraduate course DIIT in Chemical Reaction Engineering from IIT New Delhi.

The veteran has worked in most of the Heavy Water Plants in various capacities and had played an important role in setting up and commissioning of India's first ammonia based Heavy Water Plant at Baroda and later in new generation plants.
