NDMC to open School of Gardening tomorrow

New Delhi, May 10 (PTI) Over a year after its inception was proposed, the 'School of Gardening' of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is finally set to be unveiled tomorrow.

The school is expected to train the civic agency's own gardeners and Horticulture Department employees initially but later, common people too will be able to avail the facility, officials said.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will inaugurate the school of Gardening at Purana Quila Road tomorrow.

The establishment of the school of gardening was proposed in the NDMC's 2010-11 budget for skill development of gardeners and institutionalising their training process.

The institution is expected to start with basic certificate courses but advanced courses are likely to follow later. The various aspects which will be covered include plant protection, tissue culture and and soil science.
