Bhubaneswar: The housing and urban development (H&UD) department is all set to host Odisha Urban Conclave, a review-cum-orientation programme for urban local bodies (ULBs), here on Sunday.The day-long conclave will bring together senior administrators, urban planners, municipal representatives and engineering officials to review ongoing urban interventions, identify field-level bottlenecks and set priorities for faster urban transformation across the state.Housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra will inaugurate the programme.“Urban development requires coordinated action at every level. The conclave will provide a platform to identify gaps, share successful models and ensure that urban local bodies deliver better services to citizens,” said HUD minister Mohapatra.A special review of low-performing ULBs will be undertaken to identify bottlenecks and facilitate corrective measures. Best practices adopted by better-performing municipalities would also be showcased for replication elsewhere, added Mohapatra.An official said, “It will focus on augmentation of ULB revenue, standard operating procedures for town planning schemes in Tier-II and Tier-III cities — Samruddha Sahar, Urban Challenge Fund and infrastructure development under the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana (MSBY).”Among other things, the conclave will deliberate on rejuvenation of water bodies under AMRUT 2.0, urban flood mitigation, pedestrian-friendly mobility and expansion of city bus services under CRUT.Officials said the conclave is aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and promoting responsive, resilient, financially sustainable and citizen-centric urban governance across Odisha.
