Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s public transport initiatives won three national honours at the 19th Urban Mobility India Conference and Exhibition 2026, held in Bhubaneswar on Oct 23 and 24. The awards were presented at the valedictory session by Union minister for housing and urban affairs Manohar Lal. Odisha received the Commendation Award for Best Urban Transport Reforms and Implementation, while Bhubaneswar, represented by Comprehensive Region Urban Transport (CRUT), won the Excellence Award for Best Green Transport Initiative. CRUT’s pavilion also secured first prize for Best Exhibition.The green transport award recognised CRUT’s rapid expansion of electric buses, which now make up more than 52% of its fleet, with over 50 routes running fully on electricity. Its depots also use rooftop solar power, rainwater harvesting, treated-water reuse and energy-efficient systems.
