Bhubaneswar: The economic offences wing (EOW) on Saturday completed its two-day search operation at multiple locations linked to former BJD MP N Bhaskar Rao in an alleged case of large-scale financial irregularities, misappropriation of funds, extortion and criminal intimidation involving Rayagada Truck Owners’ Association.Eight EOW teams had conducted simultaneous raids at 11 locations in Rayagada and Bhubaneswar on Friday, covering residences, business establishments and other premises associated with Rao and entities under investigation. Officials said the searches have now concluded.During the operation, investigators seized a fresh set of incriminating documents and articles in addition to materials recovered on the first day. The seized items include blank letterheads of Rayagada Truck Owners’ Association, tax invoices issued to Sri Aditya Logistics Pvt Ltd, a khatiyan, documents relating to Rao’s assets and liabilities, and several association records.EOW officials also recovered used and unused receipt books, money receipt books, a cash book register, resolution register, cheque issue register and stock register pertaining to Rayagada Truck Owners’ Association. Other materials seized include cash credit bills, development fund receipts, cheque books, seals and stamps linked to the association. A total of Rs 17.06 lakh in cash was also seized during the searches.EOW officials said all seized documents and materials are currently under scrutiny. The agency is examining the records to trace financial transactions, verify allegations of fund diversion and ascertain the roles of individuals connected with the case.
