Yellow Alert StatewideAccording to the IMD’s Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, rainfall activity will intensify from Sunday, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph. A yellow warning has been issued for all 30 districts of Odisha, valid until September 3.
Districts on Special WatchFive districts—Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri—have been placed on special alert due to the likelihood of very heavy downpours. On September 1, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj face the risk of extremely heavy rainfall.
Cause of the Wet SpellMeteorologists attribute the persistent showers to a cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal, which has developed into a low-pressure system. This system is fueling strong monsoon currents, leading to continuous rainfall in Odisha.
