Bhubaneswar: The housing and urban development department has asked agencies and urban local bodies to accelerate implementation of major infrastructure, flood-management and housing projects after reviewing the progress of a record Rs 10,726.87-crore budget for the current financial year.At the 14th dashboard review meeting chaired by additional chief secretary Usha Padhee on Tuesday, the department reviewed financial performance, flagship programmes and big-ticket projects. Officials said sanitation and waste-management programmes have shown significant progress, with expenditure under Swachha Odisha reaching 62.5% of the annual allocation so far.The review also focused on a series of major connectivity projects planned for Bhubaneswar and other urban centres. DPRs are being prepared for six priority comprehensive development plan (CDP) road corridors, including Sainik School Square-VSS Nagar corridor, the New Bhubaneswar railway station connectivity corridor and Pokhariput-Ananta Vihar link.Senior officials reviewed progress of the proposed ring road project and other strategic urban infrastructure investments, directing agencies to ensure coordinated planning and adherence to timelines.Affordable housing projects in Cuttack, Berhampur and Rourkela figured prominently in the review. The department also assessed progress under SAHAJOG, which aims to achieve saturation of welfare scheme linkages for around 4.2 lakh economically weaker section (EWS) urban households.
