Bhubaneswar: Odisha BJP’s top leadership, including chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi and state president Manmohan Samal, on Wednesday met to finalise the party’s month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan beginning Sept 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life.The Odisha campaign, part of a nationwide outreach programme from Modi’s birthday on Sept 17, will focus heavily on engaging students in schools and colleges. “Schools and colleges will host elocution and drawing competitions, while street plays titled NaMo Seva Gatha will showcase the PM’s contributions and developmental initiatives. Another key component, Story of Change, will highlight the transformations witnessed in the country since Modi became prime minister,” housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra said.“Thirteen major events will be organised during the month-long campaign,” Mahapatra said as Modi has entered his 13th year as PM. Held as per directions from the party’s central leadership, the meeting was attended by representatives from all districts. A state-level workshop on the campaign was held at the BJP state headquarters with participation from party office-bearers, district presidents, district in-charges and coordinators.Mahapatra, convenor of the state-level committee for the campaign, said the initiative seeks to promote the message that “service is commitment and service is devotion”. Simanchal Khatei and Sukeshi Oram will be co-convenors of the committee.The campaign will feature blood donation camps and other service activities at the state, district and block levels. Lamps will be lit in homes on Sept 17 as a symbolic expression of gratitude for Modi’s public service and as a pledge towards the goal of a developed India by 2047.From Sept 17 to Oct 7, schools will organise drawing, essay, speech and elocution competitions centred on Modi’s public life and the vision of a developed India. Students performing well will be recognised.Under the NaMo Seva Gatha programme, street plays and musical performances highlighting welfare schemes and changes witnessed in the country over the past 25 years will be staged at schools, colleges, panchayats, community centres and other public venues.Between Sept 25 and Oct 7, Anganwadi centres will host Anganwadi Samman and Matru Sambad programmes to create awareness about nutrition, healthcare and women-centric schemes. Through Story of Change, the party plans to showcase beneficiaries whose lives have improved through government initiatives.Other activities include the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, Seva Jyoti Yatra, and Seva – My Contribution campaign, under which participants will undertake community service and local development activities.The party will also organise block-level Seva Setu camps, human rangolis under the Rangoli Rashtra programme and regional innovation challenges aimed at engaging youth, startups, professionals and grassroots innovators.The campaign will culminate in the Janasevak Mahakumbh on Oct 17. BJP leaders said around 1.25 lakh public representatives, from panchayats to Parliament, are expected to attend the event and collectively sing all six stanzas of Vande Mataram.
