Bhubaneswar: Chief secretary Anu Garg on Saturday reviewed the progress of major investment projects being implemented by aluminium producer Nalco and the Adani Group, with a focus on resolving land, infrastructure and regulatory issues to accelerate execution.At a high-level meeting held here, senior officials from departments, including industries, steel and mines, revenue, energy and urban development assessed the status of key projects and discussed measures to ensure smoother implementation. Representatives of Nalco and the Adani Group also participated in the review.The meeting examined the progress of Nalco’s brownfield expansion of its smelter and captive power plant, along with the development of the Utkal D and E coal mines in Angul. Officials reviewed issues relating to land acquisition and transfer, rehabilitation and resettlement, public hearings and infrastructure support required for the projects.Investment proposals and ongoing projects of the Adani Group in sectors such as ports, industrial parks, energy, aluminium, cement, coal gasification, data centres, mining and logistics were also discussed. Particular attention was paid to the proposed expansion of Dhamra and Gopalpur ports and the development of associated industrial and economic infrastructure.Officials deliberated on land requirements, road and rail connectivity, coastal regulation processes and other facilitation measures needed to improve project execution. The state govt reiterated its commitment to creating a conducive investment climate and extending necessary support to investors.Emphasising the importance of timely completion of large industrial projects, Garg said such investments would play a key role in boosting industrial growth, attracting further investments, generating employment and accelerating Odisha‘s economic development. She called for close coordination among departments, project proponents and district administrations to ensure swift resolution of pending issues.
