Videos shared online show operators ensconced in the comfort of the Integrated Command and Control Centre, gently reminding offenders that zebra crossings are meant for pedestrians, not for front-row parking. The campaign has certainly caught public attention. Social media users, however, have a modest suggestion: while the smart cameras are keeping a hawk’s eye on zebra-crossing trespassers, perhaps they could occasionally glance at wrong-side riders, helmet-less daredevils and other traffic acrobats. After all, a truly smart city should be able to multitask.
