Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway has announced temporary coach augmentation in nine pairs of long-distance and inter-state trains during Sept to manage expected surge in passenger traffic in festive season.The additional coaches are aimed at easing crowding, improving availability of confirmed berths and reducing waiting-list pressure on busy routes connecting Odisha with major destinations, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Tirupati, Jagdalpur, Shalimar and Shri Ganganagar.According to ECoR, an additional third AC coach would be attached to Bhubaneswar-KSR Bengaluru Prashanti Express (18463/18464) throughout Sept. Bhubaneswar-Anand Vihar Superfast Express (12819/12820) will also run with an extra third AC coach on nominated days during the month. Similar arrangements have been made for Bhubaneswar-Tirupati Express (22879/22880) and Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express (18447/18448), both of which will get one additional third AC coach.For passengers travelling on Puri–Shri Ganganagar route, ECoR will attach an extra third AC coach to Shri Ganganagar-Puri Express (20471/20472) on specified trips between Sept 6 and 30.
