The Koraput district administration has stepped up security measures at Deomali to ensure safety of visitors, in wake of the recent attack on tourists at the hill station . A high-level review meeting involving senior district officials, police and forest officials was held on Monday to chalk out measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.“Deomali attracts thousands of visitors from across Odisha and beyond. We are strengthening the security mechanism through better coordination, surveillance and clearly defined responsibilities. The objective is to ensure a safe and hassle-free experience for every visitor,” Mahajan said.According to the collector, as part of the security upgrade, officials and security personnel conducted a joint assessment of the hilltop and identified strategic locations for CCTV installation.The surveillance network is expected to enable real-time monitoring of sensitive and crowded areas and facilitate a quicker response to emergencies. Coordination among police, revenue, tourism, forest and other security agencies would be strengthened to ensure a safe environment for tourists visiting Deomali, Mahajan said.Security personnel have also been directed to remain particularly vigilant during weekends, holidays and other periods when the tourist footfall is high, he added.
