Rourkela: A 35-year-old man from Sundargarh district has alleged that a fraudster used his personal documents submitted for a job application to create two fake firms and carry out GST fraud worth over Rs 22 lakh in his name. On a complaint from Jyoti Prakash Oram of Musabira village under Chandiposh police station limits, police registered a case on Tuesday and started probing.According to the FIR, Oram alleged that Dikanta Ekka of Laing Colony in Kansbahal had promised him a private company job and asked him to attend an interview in Sundargarh. He submitted photocopies of his educational certificates, Aadhaar card, PAN card and bank passbook as part of the recruitment process. Ekka allegedly demanded Rs 30,000 for the job.Unable to arrange it, Oram abandoned his pursuit of employment. He said he discovered that two firms were opened in his name using the documents. He alleged that fake bills were generated through the firms and GST fraud amounting to Rs 22.5 lakh was carried out in his name, with the accused siphoning off the money.Police registered a case against Ekka and are probing. “Based on the FIR of the complainant, we have registered a case and the investigation is in progress,” said IIC of Chandiposh police station S Khamari.
