Bhubaneswar: The land allotment committee of Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), in a move aimed at accelerating industrial development and improving ease of doing business, has approved 37 project proposals, including 24 major industrial projects and 13 micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) units.The approvals were granted at a meeting held on Wednesday, chaired by additional chief secretary, housing and urban development department and IDCO chairperson Usha Padhee.Officials said the approved proposals are expected to expedite project implementation, generate employment opportunities and strengthen industrial and supply-chain ecosystems across different regions of the state.The swift disposal of land-related proposals underscores IDCO’s focus on time-bound decision-making, responsive land administration and investor facilitation. By streamlining processing of applications, the agency aims to create a predictable and investor-friendly environment for both large industries and emerging enterprises, they added.Alongside faster administrative clearances, IDCO has stepped up field-level monitoring of industrial infrastructure projects across key growth centres, including Khurda, Cuttack and Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur.Senior officials have been conducting inspections of emerging industrial estates and strategic industrial corridors to assess project readiness and infrastructure development on the ground. The inspections are reviewing critical aspects such as land development, grading, master planning, power and water supply, road connectivity, freight movement infrastructure and other essential civic amenities. Special emphasis is also being placed on worker-centric facilities, including safe and accessible infrastructure for women employees in manufacturing clusters.According to officials, the objective is to bridge the gap between administrative approvals and actual project execution. Field assessments are helping identify infrastructure bottlenecks early and enabling coordinated interventions by concerned departments and agencies.The twin approach of fast-tracking statutory clearances and strengthening ground-level oversight is intended to ensure that industrial land allotments translate into productive investments, employment generation and long-term economic activity.
