Bhubaneswar: The BJP state executive on Saturday adopted resolutions praising the Narendra Modi-led Union govt’s achievements over the past 12 years and highlighting what it described as the accomplishments of the Mohan Charan Majhi govt’s two years in office. The party also began deliberations on a three-month political and organisational roadmap as it prepares for the upcoming panchayat and urban local body (ULB) elections.The two-day state executive meeting commenced at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack, bringing together more than 400 delegates, including CM Mohan Charan Majhi, BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal and Odisha in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar. In the inaugural session, Bansal urged party workers to maintain sustained engagement with people and remain responsive to their aspirations and expectations. Majhi is scheduled to address the gathering on Sunday.Revenue minister Suresh Pujari said, “The meeting comprises 10 sessions focused on reviewing the government’s flagship programmes, evaluating grassroots outreach efforts, assessing the BJP’s political position in Odisha, identifying organisational gaps and strengthening coordination between the government and party organisation.”A key focus of the deliberations is the party’s strategy to consolidate its support base ahead of the three-tier panchayat and ULB elections, likely to be held in March-April next year. “Senior functionaries and office-bearers will deliberate on organisational issues and chalk out plans to further strengthen the party in Odisha,” Pujari said.He added that a special session involving BJP MPs and MLAs will be held on Sunday to understand their expectations from the govt and ensure a more productive monsoon session of Odisha assembly beginning on Sept 22.BJP state general secretary Sarada Prasad Satpathy said discussions also centred on the party’s role in Odisha’s development, the contribution of its workers and preparations for forthcoming electoral contests. He said the executive meeting would help shape the party’s organisational and political agenda for the months ahead.
