Bhubaneswar: BJP on Wednesday appointed senior leader and former Union minister D Purandeswari as its Odisha in-charge and Swadesh Singh as co-in-charge as part of a major organisational shuffle covering several states and Union Territories.Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed the appointments, expressing confidence that the duo’s experience and organisational acumen would help strengthen the party at the grassroots level.“Their long-standing organisational expertise, profound intellectual insight and experience will further strengthen and energise the party’s programmes at the grassroots level in the state,” Majhi said in a post on X.He said their guidance would accelerate Odisha’s development trajectory while giving fresh impetus to efforts aimed at safeguarding common people’s interests . “I wish all the newly appointed leaders a successful and fruitful tenure,” the chief minister added.Purandeswari, a former Union minister, is returning as BJP’s Odisha in-charge, a role she had earlier held from Nov 2020 to August 2022.In another key appointment, BJP national vice-president and Kendrapada MP Baijayant Panda was named the party’s in-charge for Maharashtra.
