Rourkela: A human skeleton believed to be that of a 59-year-old man who had been missing since Aug 1 was recovered from Kantamal forest under Gurundia police limits in Sundargarh district on Thursday. Police seized the skeletal remains and sent them for post-mortem. The remains were spotted by local residents in the forest on Wednesday afternoon. Binay Barla reached the spot and identified the skeleton as that of his father, Rajendra Barla, based on clothing found nearby. He subsequently lodged a report at Gurundia police station.Rajendra, a resident of Sol village, had been missing since August 1. His family searched for him for several days before filing a missing person complaint with Gurundia police on August 6. A missing case was subsequently registered.A police team reached the site on Wednesday evening and secured the area overnight. On Thursday, officers, accompanied by a scientific team and in the presence of a magistrate, conducted an examination of the spot and seized the skeletal remains.
