A government ward office building in Nepal’s Baglung district collapsed into the Daram River due to a landslide triggered by days of heavy rainfall.A video showed a section of the hillside giving way and debris rushing downhill within seconds as the ward office building in Galkot Municipality collapsed into the river.The TOI could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.At least 10 people have died and one remains missing in Baglung after landslides struck several areas over the weekend, sweeping away homes and burying people, according to local authorities.Superintendent of police Phanindra Prasai, chief of the district police office in Baglung, said four deaths and one missing case were reported in Tamankhola Rural Municipality, while five people died in Nisikhola Rural Municipality on Sunday.Rescue teams, including security personnel supported by a Nepali army helicopter, have been deployed to affected areas.The landslides are part of a wider spell of severe weather across Nepal. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), at least 21 people have died, five are missing and five others have been injured following four days of heavy rain, floods and landslides between September 24 and 27.Landslides accounted for 14 deaths and all five missing persons, while floods killed four people and heavy rainfall claimed three lives.Nepal is still recovering from the devastating August floods that inundated several villages, killing over 1,400 people and leaving nearly 6,000 missing.
