Cuttack: Dispute over an online game has snowballed into a ragging allegation at Ravenshaw University, with a second-year student accusing a group of seniors of harassment and assault inside a hostel on the campus.The 19-year-old student lodged a complaint with the university’s anti-ragging cell on Tuesday, alleging that he was ragged and assaulted by a group of third-year students.According to him, the incident stemmed from his objection to seniors allegedly using unfair means during an online mobile game. The disagreement reportedly escalated into an altercation, following which the seniors allegedly summoned him to their hostel room and harassed and assaulted him on Monday.The student subsequently sent an email to the university registrar and chief warden, seeking intervention and action against those involved. The university has initiated an inquiry into the complaint and is examining the circumstances that led to the alleged incident.“We are looking into the matter. The university’s anti-ragging cell will examine the complaint, record the statements of students concerned and verify all facts. Appropriate action will be taken if anyone is found guilty,” university vice-chancellor Arka Kumar Das Mohapatra said.
