Flight from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok resumes after 3-month break

Bhubaneswar: International air connectivity from Bhubaneswar received a boost on Friday with the resumption of direct flights to Bangkok, which had remained suspended since July. The flight will depart Biju Patnaik International Airport at 11.05 pm and reach Bangkok at 5 am, twice a week on Friday and Monday. This schedule will remain in vogue till Oct 25. After this, the flight will leave at 11.05 am. From Bangkok, it will leave on Tuesday and Thursday at 4.15 am.Airport officials said bookings for IndiGo’s direct Bangkok flight had opened in Sept, indicating the airline’s readiness to restart operations. “IndiGo’s direct flight from here to Bangkok has resumed with encouraging passenger footfall,” said BPIA director Prasanna Pradhan. The revival of the Bangkok flight is expected to enhance overseas travel opportunities for passengers from Odisha, particularly tourists and business travellers. At present, international services from Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Dubai continue to remain suspended, making Bangkok the sole operational route.Airport data suggests that the Bangkok service enjoyed strong demand before its suspension. The route recorded an average seat vacancy of only 15-19%, reflecting healthy passenger load and sustained interest among travellers.Officials said efforts are underway to restore other international routes from Bhubaneswar and strengthen the airport’s overseas network.
