Berhampur: Expressing deep concern, Berhampur MP Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy has written a letter to chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi, seeking his urgent intervention in directing the industrial units set up in Ganjam district to recruit local youths with utmost priority.Citing an example, he said over 450 local youths have attended the recent recruitment conducted by a solar industrial unit, which is going to be set up in the Industrial Park at Gopalpur Park. Out of them, only 43 candidates have been selected for lower-grade employment like housekeeping and construction work, while the candidature of other job-seekers has been rejected, citing a lack of experience in the sector, he said. In other states, the company, however, did not mandate the experience criterion in the recruitment drive, he added.Demanding relaxation of experience criteria for local candidates and the provision of on-the-job training, he urged the industrial unit to conduct fresh and transparent recruitment and ensure strict implementation of the state industrial policy.Saatvik Solar Industries had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the state govt in Aug for setting up a 3.6 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in the Gopalpur industrial park.
