Bhubaneswar: Ahead of Cyclone Arnab’s landfall, the state govt has directed telecom operators to activate intra-circle roaming facilities, allowing mobile users to connect to any available network if their primary service provider’s network becomes unavailable.Officials said telecom companies have been asked to ensure adequate power backup at critical mobile tower sites. “Operators have also been advised to provide dedicated bandwidth and priority routing for emergency services, administrative officials and first responders to support relief and rescue operations,” said an officer.The govt has further directed operators to pre-position cells on wheels and satellite phones in vulnerable areas. “These measures are aimed at restoring communication quickly if permanent telecom infrastructure suffers damage due to high winds, heavy rain or flooding during the cyclone,” he said.
