He chronicled his experience in his 2023 memoir, ‘Lights, Camera, Cancer!’As reported by E! News, Dynhe fought the cancer for over 12 years and noted he had undergone several procedures throughout his battle. “While I am struggling to imagine life without him, I am forever grateful to have experienced what so many people spend their lives searching for — the love of a lifetime. Alan lived an extraordinary life. From his humble beginnings as a farm boy in Illinois, he went on to become an actor, musician, writer, filmmaker, producer, and beloved acting teacher. Many knew him from his years on All My Children, while thousands of others knew him as the teacher and mentor who encouraged them to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams. He was a life changer!” Michelle wrote in her tribute statement.“Alan had an incredible gift for storytelling, a wonderful sense of humor, an adventurous spirit, and a personality that could fill any room. His life was filled with remarkable experiences, fascinating people, and enough stories for several lifetimes. And he loved sharing them! But behind all those accomplishments was the man I was fortunate enough to call my husband, my partner, and my best friend.”Opening up about their life together, she added, ” We shared a love that was truly special. We loved traveling together, laughing together, and simply being together. We never needed a room full of people or an elaborate plan to enjoy ourselves. We genuinely loved each other’s company. Even after all our years together, life with Alan was never boring.”“I hope you’ll remember Alan with a smile,” Michelle wrote to Alan’s sons and other loved ones. “Share a favourite story and celebrate the joy he brought into this world.”Michele reflected on her husband’s cancer battle and wrote, “Alan faced more than his share of health challenges over the years, yet he continued to approach life with determination, humor, and gratitude. He fought hard for the life he loved, and I was honored to stand beside him through it all. Several years ago, Alan wrote his autobiography, Lights, Camera, Action and he shared – “It’s been a great ride and I am grateful for every bit of it.“Sharing his desire to celebrate life, rather than mourning him, she added, “He also wrote that he wanted his children, grandchildren, family, and friends to celebrate his life rather than mourn his passing. That was Alan. He understood that life was an adventure, that tomorrow was never guaranteed, and that the greatest treasures weren’t things, but the people and experiences that made life meaningful. So today, even through my tears, I want to honor his wishes and celebrate the remarkable life he lived.“Reflecting on their life together, she wrote, “to my sweet Alan — thank you for loving me, for making me laugh, for the adventures, the memories, and the beautiful life we built together. I would choose you all over again, without hesitation. My heart is broken, but I am so thankful for the love of a lifetime. I will love you always.”Beyond acting, Dysert built a career as a producer, director and acting teacher. He wrote, directed, produced and acted in the 2015 film ‘The Senator’. He also founded The Actor’s School in 1991 and taught acting in the Nashville area.
