Located on a private, 6-acre ridge, the Mediterranean-style estate built by John Stamos at the absolute peak of his fame is one of the most iconic real estate properties the star ever owned. While the house is a big cultural landmark in entertainment history, it has become another property on the market facing the harsh realities of real estate in this day and age. What began as a modest USD 430,000 land purchase in 1991 transformed over three decades into a custom hilltop sanctuary and, more recently, a multi-million-dollar renovation project. Yet, despite its history, the location, and over USD 3 million spent in high-end upgrades, the property’s dramatic downfall from a USD 13 million listing down to USD 6.4 million shows just how harsh the market is.

The beloved star, who was best known for his work on ‘Full House,’ bought the California land for only USD 450,000 in 1991 and later commissioned the construction of a custom Mediterranean-style mansion according to his liking, which was completed in 1992. The original build took advantage of the surrounding hillside and valley vistas, offering expansive outdoor grounds and solitude within a gated enclave.According to the New York Post, Stamos sold it off in 2001 for USD 2.15 million. Over the years the property changed hands multiple times throughout the 2000s and 2010s. The most recent owners came down to Justin and Candace Aguilera—a former Republican congressional hopeful and his beauty entrepreneur wife—who purchased the estate in early 2020 for USD 2.95 million and extensively remodeled it.

John Stamos’ former property underwent a massive and expensive transformation

The couple spent over USD 3 million on remodeling and renovating the former Stamos mansion to their liking. They added many new luxury features to the residence, including Panda marble finishes, a dramatic crystal chandelier in the main living space, a custom blacked-out bar room, and a walk-in wine room. Outside, over 5,000 square feet of travertine tiling was installed around the resort-style pool, complete with a private hot tub and grotto.

Listing the house on the market and major drop in costs

In April 2025, the couple chose to put the property up on the market at an ambitious asking price of USD 13 million. Even after knowing its Hollywood heritage, hilltop views, and multimillion-dollar upgrades, the property fell short on the market, and finding a buyer at the asking price proved difficult for the two. Later, the property saw steep reductions in its valuation to make it more apt for the real estate market, eventually falling to USD 6.4 million by late 2026, facing a cut of more than 50% from its peak price.Despite everything that was put into the home, from its purchase in 1991 to it being listed on the market with a major price drop, the iconic property that once belonged to John Stamos has not been able to incur much profit. According to reports, the property still has not found a prospective buyer.DISCLAIMER: Figures presented in this article are derived from various public sources and are considered approximate unless explicitly noted.
