Asia Cup To Be Held From September 9-28 In UAE; India Versus Pakistan On September 14

Hyderabad: The much-awaited Asia Cup, featuring teams like India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will be held from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the development through a post on X. Naqvi, who is also the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), posted, “I am delighted to confirm the dates for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in UAE. The prestigious tournament will take place from September 9th to 28th. We look forward to a spectacular display of cricket! Detailed Schedule will be out soon. #Cricketwins (sic).”Later, the ACC announced the detailed schedule with India versus Pakistan group stage clash scheduled for September 14.India has been clubbed with Pakistan, UAE and Oman in Group A, while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Hong Kong are placed in Group B. Asia Cup will be played in the T20 format as the ICC T20 World Cup will be played in 2026.India will also take on UAE and Oman in the group stage. Two teams from each Group will qualify for the Super Four stage and these games will be played from September 20 to 26. The summit clash will be played on September 28.In case, India and Pakistan qualify from the Group A, they will once again clash in the Super 4 stage. Asia Cup is one of the most watched tournaments in the sub-continent. The last edition of the Asia Cup happened in 2023 and India are the current champions. India will go into the tournament as favourites and will be keen to defend the title.India have won the Asia Cup eight times, and in the 2023 edition, they defeated Sri Lanka in a lop-sided final. It will be broadcast on Sony Sports Network.Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi slammed the BCCI after it was announced that India would play Pakistan. In a post on X, Chaturvedi said, “Dear BCCI, Remember all of us Indians will protest any engagement with Pakistan on the cricket ground whichever country you move this to. Stop your profit over the blood of Indians and Armed Forces. On one hand India’s CDS has said Operation Sindoor is ongoing and on the other hand you’ll rush to earn your blood money. Hello Mansukh Mandaviya ji, how is this okay? (sic).”
