Balangir: Nearly 16 years after a farmer was murdered in Balangir district, a court in Titilagarh on Saturday convicted four persons, including a serving sarpanch, and sentenced them to seven years of rigorous imprisonment. The court of additional district judge, Titilagarh, found all four accused guilty in the murder of a farmer from Gandhala village under Sindhekela police station limits.Among those convicted is Kharad Bag, the serving sarpanch of Belpada panchayat under Bangomunda block. The court awarded seven years’ rigorous imprisonment to all four convicts, police said.According to police, the murder took place in 2010 following which a case was registered at Sindhekela police station. Investigators subsequently filed a chargesheet against the accused persons after completing the probe.
