Gurgaon: A neighbour allegedly pumped nine bullets into a senior IT executive during a parking dispute outside his Faridabad home on Friday night, killing him before he could be wheeled into a hospital. Paramjeet Dhankar (45), who was senior vice-president at Singapore-based FPT Software Company Ltd and former regional business head of Tech Mahindra’s Asia-Pacific operations, had returned home just a day earlier to attend his nephew’s wedding. The shooting took place around 8.30pm on Friday. According to a complaint lodged by Dhankar’s son, Shaurya, neighbour Mohan Sharma rang the bell at the family’s floor in Sector 21C and called Dhankar downstairs, asking him to move his car. Shaurya accompanied his father to the parking area, where an argument broke out. Mohan (44), a scrap dealer, allegedly whipped out his licensed pistol and opened fire at close range.Police said a total of 15 rounds were fired. Nine bullets are likely to have struck Dhankar, though the exact number will be confirmed only after autopsy. Mohan then allegedly fired at Shaurya, who escaped by taking cover behind parked vehicles. Dhankar tried to escape but collapsed and died at the spot. The accused fled in his car.Bloodstains marked the road where Dhankar fell, while bullet marks were visible on parking pillars and vehicles. Teams from Surajkund police station, the crime branch and forensic science laboratory secured the scene and collected evidence, including empty cartridges. The immediate confrontation, according to Shaurya’s complaint, was over car parking. Police are also examining whether a separate, long-running dispute over Mohan’s pet dog contributed to the hostility. Dhankar’s son had recently objected to the dog defecating in the common parking area. Police have not established whether this quarrel played a role in Friday’s shooting. The families lived in the same building and had a history of altercations. Mohan lived with his wife, son and daughter on the second floor of house No. 641, while Dhankar and his family occupied the ground floor. Police said they had frequently quarrelled over minor issues.Around five days before the murder, Mohan allegedly abused Shaurya during a disagreement over the pet dog. Dhankar’s family lodged a police complaint, but the matter was later settled.Dhankar’s father, Mange Ram, alleged that Mohan had also damaged the family’s house gate, prompting another complaint two-three days before the shooting. He further accused Mohan of recently assaulting an 85-year-old neighbour in the same building.“Mohan is a notorious man, and he recently assaulted another 85-year-old neighbour in the building. He had also damaged our house gate three days back, following which we lodged a police complaint as well. On Friday, he called my son downstairs on the pretext of asking him to move his car and fired at him, killing him on the spot. There is ample space in the parking area. My son was a very decent man,” Mange Ram said.A crime branch team arrested Mohan near DLF Chowk in Ballabhgarh on Saturday. “He was taken into custody following a search operation launched after the murder. He will be produced before a court and taken on remand for questioning and collection of evidence,” police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav said.Surajkund SHO Prahlad Kumar confirmed that 15 rounds were fired from Mohan’s gun. “After receiving information about the firing, police teams immediately reached the spot. The accused was arrested within a few hours,” he said.A case was registered at Surajkund police station under sections 103 (murder), 109 (attempt to murder) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of BNS. The body was sent for autopsy.Dhankar had returned to Faridabad from Singapore on Nov 5 for his nephew’s wedding, scheduled for Nov 24. Originally from Hisar, he had moved to Faridabad with his family. His profile on LinkedIn lists him as a former head of Tech Mahindra’s Asia-Pacific regional business operations before joining FPT Software as senior vice-president. He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter and his parents.
